Second Period
This second
period I am again with one of the groups of advanced students. As always, I
started by greeting them and mentioning what I expect from them during these
three classes that I am going to be teaching. After it, it was time to start
the class. As they were studying phrasal verbs, the future perfect continuous
and the future continuous in previous classes, the teacher asked me to develop
a warm up related to it so that during the warm up I divided the class in two
groups. I explained that I was going to tell them a
phrasal verb and one of the two tenses they were studying and then they had to
use that to write a complete and logical sentence on the board. During the feedback the teacher told me that
the activity was nice the only things was that I had to be more careful with
the organization because not all the students participated.
After
the warm up, I wrote on the board the word “CHALLENGE” and then I asked
students to come up with ideas about it. Later on, I addressed students to read
an article from the students’ book and when they finished reading, I formed
pairs in order to develop some activities related to it, but I think that I gave
them too much time to solve them because at the end, I could not finish to
check the last activity.
Hi Mayrita, I know it is hard to find the right activities for certain topics and time to prepare them is our worst enemy .We expect all the Ss to participate but if they are not motivated it is difficult to have them engaged in the class.
